My name is Liliana D'Arcangelo and this is why I chose motorcycle photography and design.
When I was a little girl, I remember being fascinated by motorcycles. I once told my mom that when I was older I would have one, but she always said they were too dangerous.
While motorcycles do come with risks, they are also incredibly rewarding. Watching one ride by, hearing the engine, and seeing the blur of motion is captivating, but actually riding one is a completely different experience. The feeling of freedom, control, and connection between rider and machine creates something almost meditative.
As I grew older, my fascination with motorcycles only increased. That passion eventually led me into motorcycle photography through an advanced photography class I took during college. What began as an assignment quickly became a passion of mine. I became interested in capturing the individuality of riders and their bikes. Even when motorcycles share the same make or modifications, they still reflect the personality of their owner through how they are ridden, maintained, and presented.
Through my photography, I capture the details that reveal something about the rider. However, photos alone can only tell part of the story, which is why I incorporated graphic design into my images. By using typography, color, and composition, I added layers of meaning that visually express the rider’s identity, emotions, and connection to their motorcycle.
Motorcyclists are often misunderstood and stereotyped as reckless or dangerous. While some may fit that image, many riders simply enjoy the sense of peace, purpose, and freedom riding provides. My goal is to highlight those individuals and their stories.
In media.by.liliana, I combined my photography and graphic design style to portray motorcyclists in a positive and authentic way. Each piece features a different rider and design element that reflect their personality while maintaining a cohesive style.
Ultimately, media.by.liliana aims to challenge stereotypes and share the real stories behind motorcycle culture, stories of passion, identity, and the deep connection riders feel with the open road.
